Him ⚠️

The first rule to guarding your heart against falling in love with him more than you should is,

Every time you say goodbye to him, mean it. Don’t look forward to seeing him some other time.

If you see him fifty times, say goodbye fifty times.

Don’t imagine what your kids will look like. Don’t imagine him proposing, you both having a life together.

Don’t think he is yours, something to be kept and owned.

No. Think of him like the fresh breeze that sweeps across your face on an evening stroll, you like it, you enjoy it but you don’t think it about it long after you’re in bed.

You don’t think about what it would feel like to own that air.

You know it’s not yours to own, think of him that same way.

When he stops coming, like the nice breeze you experience during your stroll, quickly forget about him. You might remember him once in a while and wish to experience him again, but don’t spend all day crying, looking at the mirror and wondering why like the breeze he hasn’t come for you to feel it sweetness and freshness on your skin. Find replacements, alternatives, something to alleviate the heat. One day you’ll find a big tree you can sit under and get some nice air. Realize it’s life. It’s not that deep!

And if one unsuspecting day you run into him and he smiles at you, it’s okay to squeeze your face and not smile back.

If his charms tug at your feet threatening to sweep you off, it’s okay to fight it. Withstand it. You must not, fall for everything.

And if after you want to curl up in a ball and cry, know that it’s okay too. But as you cry, laugh, realize it’s life , it’s not that deep.
